They’re doing it ‘for the kids’. And ‘they’ are the queen’s grandson, and his wife.
So, they’re divorcing amicably. And they’re choosing to be neighbors. And according to their statement:
“They…reached the conclusion that this was the best course of action for their two children and ongoing friendship.
The decision to divorce and share custody came about after many months of discussions and although sad, is an amicable one.”
Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn, that is. What’s more; Peter is Princess Anne’s oldest child. In addition to this, they are splitting after 12 married years.
Peter is 42, and works as a sports marketing consultant. And Autumn is 41, working as a management consultant. What’s more; they have two kids. And their names are Savannah (9) and Isla (7).
And Peter is going to be the queen’s first legally divorced grandchild. So the couple married at St George’s Chapel in 2008. And their statement also states that:
‘Both families were naturally sad at the announcement, but fully supportive of Peter and Autumn in the joint decision to co-parent their children,”
How does child custody work in California?
-In California, custody is awarded ‘in the child’s best interest’
-the child’s best interest is considered when deciding how time with children will be split
-and the parents begin with the same rights
-so there are two main policies
-and they are to do with:
- Health, safety and welfare
- The positive effects of ongoing connection with both parents
